The Most Outrageous, Obnoxious, Out of Control Speeding Tickets Ever Issued

We believe cities come up with the most insane laws to raise revenue, especially well to do cities. There’s nothing that bugs us more than a parking ticket or an unwarranted speeding ticket. But there are a few people out there that justly deserve these tickets. Here are just a few of the most outrageous speeding tickets ever issued.

In 2003 a Texas man set the world record for the fastest ticket ever issued. He allegedly was going 242mph in a 75 mph zone. Amazingly, he wasn’t on a motorcycle. He was driving a Swedish sports car called a Koenigsegg. How is that for Swedish engineering? Eat your heart out Germany!  * source

The UK has not only produced great literature and music but also a few speed demons. In 2007 Timothy Brady was clocked at 172mph. Not only was Brady suspended from driving for 3 years but also had to spend 10 weeks in jail. Again, he didn’t reach this speed on a bike but in a Porsche. * source

Chances are anyone who has ever turned on the TV, has seen a car chase. Sure they are exciting and usually only last a few minutes before the cops outsmart the fugitive. This was not the case in 2002 when, after robbing a bank and taking a woman hostage, fugitives led police on a car chase that lasted 2 days.  2 DAYS! Needless to say, speeding is not the only trouble these guys faced. * source

All of these drivers should be extremely thankful they do not reside in Finland. Finnish speeding tickets are not only based off on how fast you were going but also how much money you make. That makes for interesting combination. In 2001 Jaakp Rytsola, an Internet entrepreneur, decided to open his BMW up a little on an empty stretch of road. Unfortunately for Rytsola, the road wasn’t as empty as he thought. A police cruiser clocked him going 43mph in a 25mph zone. His fine was $71,400. Rytsola is actually not the largest ticket ever issued in Finland. In fact, it is not uncommon for six figure tickets to be issued. * source

A woman in Liverpool England was recently sent not one but two tickets from the same police camera. In fact, the pictures were taken 3.5 minutes apart. While this may not seem outrageous, the unbelievable part is she stopped for McDonald’s in between. She is fighting the tickets saying that while it is not impossible, it is highly unlikely she could pull this stunt off. * source

There you have it, the most outrageous tickets ever issued. Sure some of these are justified, while others are just unbelievable. If anything, we hope you have all learned an important lesson from this list, don’t speed in Finland!
